DT 400 Bars was created by Andy_C
I noticed during the first ride on my restored 400 that the handlebars are bent - the bend is on the LH side so guess it it probably as a result of it falling off the stand sometime in the past..
The wall thickness of the tube that the bars are made from is suprisingly thin so it looks pretty easy to bend.
Plan is to take the bars off the bike and using a vice and bar that fits insite the handelbar tubes see if I can straighten them out.
Reason for trying to restore what are fitted to the bike is that I like their height, and I have no idea if they are standard or aftermarket as I have no idea of the dimensions of the standard bars - does anyone have any dimensions they can share?
In the meantime I'll see if I can straighten them out.

I have straightened bent bars by sticking one end into the hitch receiver on my truck and force the other end as needed.

My original bars (the original ones have knurling on them which lines up with the ‘holding down’ brackets) were bent, so I can’t give you a definitive answer. I did some research a few years back and the best answer that I could find was 82cm at the widest point.
I sold my original bars and bought new ones which were a very close match to the originals (I had to hacksaw 1.5” off each end, and they don’t have any knurling). They were from www.feked.com in the uk. Model ‘off-bar004’. Quite reasonably priced. (Pre cost-of-living crisis)
Hope that helps…

Maybe a little late with this reply. You should use a bar that fits over the OD of the handlebar. This will not distort the outside shape of the bar. Not so much of a problem on the left. Bend a little at a time and check often. I have used bars from Fly on my 75 250. Part # 18-95106 Alum-Steel. Very close to original bend. fit and look great.
