You didn't inconvenience or confuse any of us here...  great questions and glad you got spark.

The voltage spike is extremely short duration...  not sure any meter can measure it accurately at kicking speeds.  Oscilloscope probably can.  But it doesn't matter at all if it sparks.

That’s good, thank you for the help.

I plan to restore the thing best I can, parts willing. Glad that has been resolved, next thing I gotta do is get some cables mostly all of ‘em are shot. I’ll post it when it’s all pretty.
