1978 DT125E Right Side Crank Seal Replacement was created by Bsimpson
Has anyone posted on here a guide to replacing the right sided crank seal on this bike? I am very familiar with the left crank seal because it is MUCH easier to do. I've only ever replaced a clutch-side crank seal on my 96 CR250, and I hated it lol. I would just like some basic instructions to follow because when I start messing with gears and such around the clutch it can be a little nerve racking! Thanks!

Not too hard. Remove cover, you need tools to remove inner clutch basket and crank nut. Pay attention to how the thrust bearing and spacers came out as well as the clutch disks. Take pics if you can. Do not rely on exploded parts diagrams for reassembly as they are not meant to be "assembly diagrams" and are not always correct.

If you haven't done the left side seal yet I'd use the 77-79 IT175 seals. True double lip seals where the stock DT125 ignition seal is only single lip. I've had a few ignition seals be fine under pressure but leak under vacuum on that model. The dual lip seal prevents that.
