Dt3 VM26 was created by principal282

Been through the carb many times.
new jet setter
New #30 pilot
New needle and seat
All air passages clean/blown out
Tried something combustible to fire
Kicked until this old guy can't kick any more..

Fires, sputters, might run for 15 seconds.

Air screw set to seated and backed out 1.5 turns.

I'm obviously missing something.

Would a small tear in the float.bowl gasket have any impact?  It's all covered and no leaks.

Could I be missing an air passage somewhere?  There really aren't that many parts on the thing.  I've gotten to know it pretty well in the last three weeks haha

Thanks In advance...

Really not enough info...  if bike was running great and sat for a couple months and carb got gummed up it's a lot different situation than a bike that's been parked for who knows how long and/or you've never had it running.  Or an engine that was just disassembled completely and rebuilt.

Could it be just plain old flooded up with all tha'ts been going on. If it is then full throttle & no choke would get a result in a dozen kicks depending how bad its flooded in the crankcase. If ya sure its not that then lets go the other way with choke & NO throttle & should light up in a dozen kicks--should light up in a couple but if something's still blocked then might take a few more. Is the plug wet or dry. If dry it sounds like its not sucking, but gotta suck if crank seals are in place & its got some compression. Out of ideas but we love videos, thanks.

It ran great until 2 weeks ago. I've had some issues with fuel and junk in the tank.

How critical is the bowl gasket?

With junk in the tank then check the petcock and fuel line for blockage. There should be a screen in the bowl on the petcock and a filter on top of the petcock in the tank as well. Maybe you've already checked those?

Bowl gasket may allow fuel to leak but should not cause a running issue.

I agree with RT325 that it could actually be flooded?  As he asked, is the plug wet or dry when you remove it after trying to start?  And have you replaced the plug with a known good one?

Yes, all checked. All good. Fuel is clean.  I can see tiny residue when it sits in a white cup.

Video 1. No throttle no choke. When it fired I hit the choke to sustain it.
