Nice stash!

I'm not good at identifying tanks... I know someone that was looking for a 1977 IT400 tank recently. Is that one you have?

Mark,
I have 8 tanks available for sale and if I recall not all of them are the same, I'm not a Yamaha IT expert so I can only send people pictures so they can determine if that is the correct one.  My wife's cousin had several of these bikes so he bought a lot of parts over the years before he passed away suddently.

Mark,
I did some research and all of these tanks are part# 1W6-24110-00-00 for the 1977-1980 IT 250, 1977-1979 IT 400, 1980 IT 425.

Let me know how many he wants to buy before they are gone.

Thanks, Dan

Good job!  The identification should really help sell them.  I saw a post from the person I know that was looking for one so he's been in touch with you.

Early 1977 IT175 stator has an extra wire compared to later 77.  Change is not well documented.  If I remember correctly, the extra wire is a ground for the pick up coil?

Thanks for the 411.
My IT 175 is a 1978. Yamaha parts fiche indicates 1977 & 1978 are interchangeable.
Yamaha must not have thought that the extra ground wire was worth charging the part #.
Regards

The current parts list shows a  "-20" in the number which indicates at least one revision.  I'm pretty sure early CDI box had the extra wire too and has a "-20".

I mentioned it because I believe you can use the "revised" stator on the early model....  but if you end up with an early stator on a later bike you'd have to deal with the extra wire on the early stator.  If you end up with a stator with the extra wire let me know and I can probably find my notes and confirm what you need to do to use it with a 78.

P.S. I have at least one complete working 77-78 IT175 ignition...  stator, flywheel, and CDI box.   I had both a early 77 and a 78.  Not sure if I have them both still but I have at least one.   Would sell as a complete unit, not interested in parting out.

"The current parts list shows a  "-20" in the number which indicates at least one revision.  I'm pretty sure early CDI box had the extra wire too and has a "-20". "

Pretty sure that "-20" means it's a Mitsubishi part - Hitachi parts are "-10". I think that the first revision of the Mitsubishi part would end "-21" ("-11" for Hitachi).

Happy to be corrected, though!
