Views on the Honda CL350 street scrambler? was created by Gr8uncleal

As per the title.

I quite like the look of them and have been sniffing around one.

Anything I should look out for, or even avoid all together?

Thanks.

Go for it Al.
I’ve owned the XL and the CB and they were both great bikes.
Although I often wished for electric start on my XL.

These are not mine. But they are identical to mine. Except my CB had a chrome 2 into 1 Hooker Header. Of course…..

The CB and CL 350 Honda have no issues that I am aware of. Perhaps the Cessna 172 of motorcycles. They do everything pretty well, nothing particularly well and run forever. My favorite of the line would be the SL but those are pretty precious.

Please don't take offense, Al, you are always very helpful. But, I've only got two words for that bike: boring and heavy.

I had a blue/white '68 CL350 as a commuter bike during college. It was a big step up from my CT1 Yamaha with a 125 top end. All I could afford back then. The CL350 could easily pull away from cars at a stoplight back then. Could maneuver well in traffic and cruise up to 70mph comfortably. It was reasonably smooth but it has the 180 degree crank I think. I can't remember if it had 19 inch wheels. Yes, it was relatively heavy as with most Honda four strokes back in the day. I had the cam chain guides go and had to get a rebuild. It ran quietly after that. Got rid of it after I got a hand me down CB750, which was another good step up from the 350.

I always liked the CL175 Scrambler.  A friend's parents had a CL350 (his) and a CL175 (hers) when I was a kid.

When his Dad would ride the trails with us, he always rode the CL175.  It confused us kids because we thought a 350 had to be at least twice as good as a 175!  LOL. He would tell us the 175 was a better trail bike.

Thanks Mark.

Yes, I can see that the 175's lighter weight would make it better for trails.

If I got the CL350, I would just be pootling around the local roads (pavements to you guys!) on it.
