I'm putting new rings (and piston) after a hone on my YG5T.  One of the NOS oem rings I got with the set from ebay has a slight warp.  Probably a few thou.  Does anyone know if this is within standard expectations?  Should I run this or buy another set?  I have some time pressure to get this running, but don't want to put in a bad ring. Pic. attached.

Thanks!

It'll run, but not an ideal situation by any means
If it were mine, I would get another set.
Give me the part number you need, and if I have them, I'll give them to you for the cost of shipping.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, really too bad as I have to get this back together soon.

The part # for the two chrome YG5T set is 180-11601-00

I have a few sets of Riken Japanese aftermarket rings - but for the YG5S model which had a top chrome and lower cast/parkerized ring.

I think (other than the coating) the top and bottom rings on this bike are the same (but may be wrong). The Yamaha kits don't seem to differentiate with any different marking (both just stamped with an "n") and my measurements don't show any difference between the rings. I was thinking of using two chrome rings from two Riken set(s). Does this sound like a terrible idea? Trying to avoid terrible ideas at this point!

Thanks again.

Well, looks like I don't have the rings you need.

Your idea of using the other rings is fine, as long as they are the - straight / flat / parallel - type
... as apposed to the Keystone type rings, which have a slight taper to them

You should be alright though,  as I don't recall Yamaha even using the Keystone type rings in 68.

It'll twist back as easily as it got bent as i 'think' they're slightly forgiving, not cast iron but-- alloy steel whatever that is. I've tweeked twisted rings back before without issue just don't get too carried away. It might've got twisted if the seller had fitted them to a piston then took them off for some reason. They probably get a harder time getting fitted over the piston to the second groove.
