Need a carb rebuild kit for a USA model of the 1981 DT175G

I sold my low mileage (2650) 1971 CT-1C which was pristine and  bought a 1981 DT175E with only 1100 miles, and pocketed the the difference between what I sold and purchased, a tidy $1200. Really like the 6 th gear, lighter, reed valves= more low end, and better suspension.

Yamaha didn't make kits as far as I know.  Not really needed.  If you find an aftermarket carb kit, it will likely have cheap brass parts (jets, etc) and usually will not run right.

Use genuine parts.  Just buy the parts you need from Yamaha or a Mikuni distributor.  I do recommend going up a size or two on the pilot jet on that year model. 

1978 Primary Service manual and 1980 supplement should be in Tech Library if you need them  (You need to use both)  1980 and 81 were pretty much identical.  I may have the 1981 supplement if you have any questions.

 

I have 1980 Yamaha DT175G. When I bought the bike the jet needle only had 1 adjustment. Did your have the 5 adjustments on the needle.

80 and 81 did the needle have 5 adjustments?
