Pennies from heaven... was created by dan

I look at craiglist all the time.  It finally paid off.  A lister had 3 motorcycles for free.  An early 70's 350 twin Honda street bike, an 80's Honda street legal  XR250, and a 75 dt250. i only wanted the DT due to lack of my space.  But I had to take all three.  No titles.  All the bikes were complete, the XR was somewhat disassembled.  I left the 350 and the XR on my sons pickup to take to the scrapyard where he works.   (I know, I'm terrible}, but I did take the starter solenoid of the 350 for the riding mower. The 350 had extended forks, high handlebars and a high old school sissy bar on it. A regular customer seen the XR on his truck at the yard and bought it for $35 dollars and I seen it listed on CL as runs good, needs little for $1500, seller claims it was a rare model, who knows, at least it got revived.  My son said the fellow told him it was easy to get running.  .Anyhow, here is the 250.  I haven't tried to start it yet.  Disassembled carb to clean, took some soaking but got the pilot jet out, so it should all be good.  New crank seals both sides.  Spins over nice with compression.  Old big knobbys still holding air.  The bikes sat in a basement for decades so minimal rust issues on the 250, checkout the fork tubes and the wheels will clean up nice.  The tank has one minor dent and very clean inside, oil tank is nice, the swithgear is banged up, came complete with mirrors, blinkers, tailite, even the buddy pegs.  it shows just over 5000 miles if that means anything..   I been cleaning it up, sandblasting and painting some pieces.  .She will make a nice addition to the stable.  Same year as my 400 and 175.

That's an awesome score! I don't use Craigslist that often, but I did luck out once. I saw a Fender Telecaster guitar that was advertised as a modern version Baja. It looked to me like a vintage Telecaster from the '70s. It was listed for $500 and I messaged the seller trying to get a serial number to find out what it really was. They didn't seem interested in really researching it, and they finally emailed me and said if I could have it for $275.

I decided to take the hour drive and picked it up, and sure enough it was a 1975 vintage Telecaster with the original case. Needed some fret work and some other things. I did some of the work and had a local tech fix the frets for a hundred bucks. It's probably worth $2,000 or more now. I love seeing these Craigslist scores!

Craigslist can be more trouble than it is worth.
Especially when dealing in low value or free items.
It brings out the riff raff, and no shows..
The fellow that listed the 3 free bikes said he had about 30 hits after I responded.  That was the first day.
I suggested I only take the DT, since there was so much interest.
He declined, he didn't want to deal with the hassle of no shows or worse.
So I took all three.
