I have a newly minted stator out of thr deet time machine. I have installed it with the new yamaha woodruff key. My points do not seem to open and close. I have a beep box setup and can manually do it but no rotation of the flywheel does it
ideas ?

Are you saying that your flywheel won't open the points?
Are you looking at them to see if they open or are you just using this beeper thing to tell you?
Keep in mind that the stator assembly made spark and all voltages before it left here. So that proves that it should open the points.

Need more clarification of your "beep box" and exactly what you mean.
If you're using a continuity tester, it will beep constantly.

If you loosen the points screw & let them rest on the cam & tighten it in the position the flywheel is now then they should open from about that point, just looking at where the flywheel is. Make sure that flywheel nut is tight or the crank key will suffer.

A beep box is similar to the aircraft magneto timing indicator. One lead to black, the other to ground.
I got it!! It just took some learning for how to make that fine adjustment. I got the beep to hit right at 126 thousands (3.2mm) btc.
The stator is a beauty. A work of art
