CT3 handle switch was created by ksours

Handle switch for my CT3 is in very bad shape. The connector bar for the power supply is falling apart. Ebay has 1 for $279 and this bike has some aftermarket parts so I don't want to spend that kind of money. Do you know of another switch that I can wire in myself to replace this one? The plug ins can be rewired and I am only concerned with the handle bar fit and the common wires.  I have power to the switch but the switch internals need replaced.

Could you post a photo of the damaged part(s)? Just so we all know which ones we are talking about!

Thanks.

Might be my eyes, but I can't see anything broken.

That bar with the three wires (dark green, dark brown and brown/white) is for the indicator switch.

By the way, DEET here on the forum does nice replacement silver/grey wire sheathing.

So is that the part that you are looking to replace? If yes, how wide is yours? I would imagine that your switch housing is stamped YHA205 on the underside, but it could be that the bar from the early YHA206 might fit.

I'm guessing you're in the US?

For $27 I bought one of these:

The internals look like this:

Maybe you could change the color to silver if you care or use your housing with the new guts?  I am not sure if the new internals are compatible with your original switch.

Yes it is a YHA205. The bar is 13/16" ( i glued it so + or- 1/16 )I have power to the horn but button does not work or horn is shot ( new one on the way) and I can't seem to get anything going on the light. The switch was frozen up and I cleaned it but i'm afraid it may be a parts-part. I could replace the bar perhaps but the light will still need to be addressed. Is there a 7 wire replacement for this switch?

No, I did not wire it to a CT3.  Unfortunately for me, I don't have one.

I, or others on the forum, would help you figure out the wiring.  Depending how the new switch is wired you might end up with an extra headlight on/off switch.  I think the USA CT3 had a 3 position key switch: off, on and on with lights.
