New RT3 owner. was created by pahiker
Have a 1973 RT3 on the way from an online auction, can't wait to get her home. She has a few scratches and dings, but mechanically looks solid from the videos. This site has a wealth of information, great seeing the collaboration between fellow inmates in the motorcycle asylum

Some must dos:-
Replace both sets of brake shoes (still available from Yamaha).
If you intend using the headlight, and it's not blown already, and staying with the original 6v electrical system, fit a 6v voltage regulator.
Before attempting to kick start it, make sure that the timing is correct and that the decompression valve in the front of the engine moves freely and is not clogged up.

Congrats on the new bike!
additionally, start her up on premix so you can check pump output before counting on it!

I have 4 of them. 3 are regular riders, 1 is under construction.
Yes I know. I have a problem, I admit it, I'm not ashamed of it.

The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.
