Hi

i am a new member to the forum and am probably doing this in the wrong place but am looking for some help. I bought a new Mikuni VM28 carb but as most of you know they don’t come with the autolube feed nipple. I plan on drilling and tapping the carb but can’t seem to find a suitable oil nipple anywhere. Has anyone done this before and can help as to where to get one. Many thanks

Welcome from NZ & i'm limited use [no use] but on one of mine wswapping carbs & think it was my rtide to work DT250 come to think--30 years ago & only carb i had was off a suzy ts/er250 maybe 185. Anyway worked good but no oil nipple. So ifed it into the cab through a breather so it sent the oil into the carb bowl & wortked good & never a problem. By memory it had two breathers one each side plus the bowl breather/overflow so was getting plenty of air in there. Sorry woffling while cars running & wife pulling on my ear lol.

I used to race Nitro RC cars starting way back when you built your own stuff (including assembling and soldering a tank on a couple of early models) and I have used the fuel fittings from the hobby shop for the autolube fitting into a carb without one ....  many of the newer plastic RC tanks and exhaust pipes had little threaded barbs for the pressure and outlet hose.  They probably still do?

HVC Cycle sells reproduction "press in" fittings as used on the RD's.

Here's a new tank with what looks like the thread in fittings.  Hobby shops used to sell just the fittings.

Thanks for the super quick response guys. I am paranoid about the mixture so I prefer the conventional route of feeding it into the
Carb where it normally goes. Thanks for the link Mark as those fittings look great. Hopefully I get this sorted soon then it’s on to a carb issue on my RD350LC. My life seems to revolve around carb issues. Lol. Too many bikes and fuel never seems to keep for as long as I need it to.

Niche Cycle sells a threaded nipple, I have done exactly what you are trying to do and they work great and only cost 3-4 dollars.
