DT1 as an "adventure" bike?
Not commonly used for long distance travel but "back in the day" several/many were used for the overland route from Singapore to Europe. I knew one Aussie who had used a smaller model, and the RT1's (360cc) were just coming out. Two friends took their DT and RT to and around Africa from Malaysia. I bought a DT1 in Singapore in 1971 and headed for Europe. 25,000 relatively trouble free miles! It worked fine everywhere - except the German Autobahn.... You can see some photo's at www.yamahadt1.blogspot.com - i've been updating it gradually. Starts off with New Zealand and Australia but scroll down to part about DT1. Al

Incredible story, fun to read!
Not much has changed in India, was there in 2009 and they were still making gravel by hand.

wow that's impressive
It's better to remain silent and be considered a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
