Hello! I'm trying to get my 74' DT250 up and restored. The gas tank has been caved in, "repaired", and then caved in again....and "repaired"....again. So it's looking a little like a crumbled up beer can that's been straightened out. It seems that the previous owners managed to rip the flip top cap off and it busted the hinge mounts off from the tank and the front latching teeth are also busted off. No, there is no way I can jerry-rig something up and make the cap work. The flip top cap is no longer an option.

Are there any alternatives? Like one of those completely removable ones from a 75, perhaps? A big cork? I reeeally don't want to find a different tank. I can fill the dents on the tank.

You should be able to find a tank bung and weld or braze it in place of original

I have an extra tank in good shape and clean, let me know where you are, let you have it for shipping cost.

@loner if jcb didn't get the tank, I'm in need of a tank for a basket case 74 DT250 I picked up if you would like to sell it.

Thanks

@ Dingler I found out that the tanks I have are for a TS 250 suzuki's, but my friend that does the cylinder boring may have one, he has been going through his shop and finding treasures. Will let you know.

I have one rusted out on bottom. Perfect on top, no cap. I’ll post a photo tomorrow if interested.

Apologies for the delayed response....After a bit of searching I ended up finding what looked like a NOS dented tank on ebay .
Thank you for your replies though!
