dt250b and dt400b Speedo question ? was created by nismobrown

Hi , I have a 1975 DT400b and the speedo is not working , please can anyone confirm if a DT250b speedo is the same as I have a spare one?

also is it possible to strip these speedos down without specialist tools ?
if the speedo is the same I will need to change the faces due to condition issues
thanks.

Almost certainly - CMSNL list the same part (438-83570-31) as fitting all of the DT250/360/400 for 1974/1975/1976.

Hello , I re-built my DT360A speedo and re-faced it along with a clean up , I got a machine shop to make me an aluminiumĀ  plate with a milled out recess the exact diameter of the outer , and slightly deeper than the folded over edge , I then worked slowly around the chrome piece whilst it was in the recess , this supported it and kept it in shape as i did so thenĀ  reverse the above to fold it back down when finished ....
Regards
Bill
