electric problems YAMAHA DT 250, Typ 512, 1975 was created by Knuth Fischer
Hi from Germany,
does anyone has a wiring diagram for a 1975 YAMAHA DT 250 Typ 512 (with RESISTOR)?
In my org. YAMAHA workshop manual (printed end of 1974) for the DT 250 B there is a diagramm without a resistor (1975, part-no 456-85370-42) or a voltage regulator (1976, part no 489-81910-60). In the YAMAHA PARTS LIST (FOR EUROPE) 1975 and 1976 the parts are shown.
I bought the bike years ago and now the restauration is nearly finsh. From UK I got a repro wire harness but it dont fit correct. The wire colours are different aso. It seems that some electric parts are for the 1976 Version, other parts are for the 1975 version.
Sorry for my bad English. i learned it 45 years ago in a German School.
Best Regards
Knuth

Hi Knuth, regards from Germany as well
Have a look on this post, i had the same Problems. The UK harness, i couldn´t use as well, so finally i decided to convert to US harness including US main switch with just on/off.
Works fine and is legal.

Hi Knuth,
I connected the stand light to the tail light. Means main switch on-stand light on. Headlight only works, when motor is running, so ok for bi-annual technical check up.
If you go for US wiring, you have to change or modify left handle switch, too.

Hi all together,
sometime luck helps. I found a org. YAMAHA DT 250/400 supplement for the workshop maual - with the correct wire diagram (main switch 10 wires)!!! Also the repro wire harness from UK I bought now fits right!
So the target comes nearer that the DT will smoke blue fog in the future.
Best Regards

Great news Knuth!
Was it a Yuni Parts/Yuni World harness? A shame they closed down, although when I "Googled" them to see what had happened, an industrial tribunal instigated by a former employee came up!
