Cylinder Base Gasket Issue DT2 was created by Brzn

I've purchased two different cylinder base gaskets for my 1972 DT2 from two different vendors, both are too large. I purchased the part number shown on Partzilla's website 275-11351-09-00, and they're wrong, too large.

I've bought the head gasket from Partzilla with the part number 214-11181-09-00 and it fits just fine.

Anyone know if Partzilla's part number for the base gasket is wrong? If so, what would the correct part number for the base gasket be?

I believe it's 214-11351-00-00 which has now been superceded with 214-11351-09.
275 part number is for the RT2, it's a shared parts list so that might explain the confussion.

Hey BRZN, measure the distance between holes, if they fit my DT400 I'll buy them off you.

The gaskets that don't fit my DT2, on center side to side appears to be 74mm and on center front to back 92mm.

That falls short of my measurements BRZN. Maybe they fit a 360???

Pete-RT1 is correct. your ordering the RT 360 parts. Part list are shared on some Yamaha bikes. You want 214- parts.

Oops...
Put this on the wrong thread of mine yesterday, Makes a bit more sense here.

Gasket 214-11351-00 showed up and it fits! Partzilla shows it for a 1974 YZ250 not my '72 DT2. CMS shows the correct 214 prefix number for my '72 DT2 not the 275 shown on Partzilla. Oh well...

BRZN... hopefully you understand the concept of "shared parts lists" and the importance of the part number prefix that people have been mentioning? If not, you will probably order more wrong parts.

It's tricky... you kind of need to use experience or common sense to tell yourself that a 250 will have a different size cylinder/piston/rings/gaskets/crank than a 360 for example.

Then on those parts pay careful attention to the part numbers in the "new" online parts lists. The prefix of the number tells you what model the part is for. There are model code lists in the Tech Library to decode those numbers. The second section of numbers identify the type of parts. "11351" is a base gasket. The other numbers past that are revisions, colors, etc. Many of the early Yamaha manuals in the Tech Library have a section on decoding part numbers and Mako wrote an article in the Tech Library.

Partzilla almost certainly shows the 214-11351 gasket you needed in their parts list for the DT2... it's sometimes listed together next to the "shared" part in the list but most of the time it shows up on Partzilla as one of the "0" parts at the start of the list. (And on rare occasions, not at all.)

Good luck and have fun!
