clutch o rings

HI ALL
I have an at2 I am assembling, I am trying to assemble,
The clutch, the O rings under the friction plates wont
fit under them, are they required or can I leave them out ?

1.  They don't fit "under" which could be your problem

2. Many of us leave them out.

Leave them out. Are you using aftermarket 'new' fibers that have less clearance under them. Don't worry.

Thanks for the replys everyone, yes I am using barnett fibers,
so I will leave them out. slowly getting it together.

HI Everyone
Now that you helped me out with the clutch rubber o rings,
I have assembled the clutch, the clutch primary drive gear
and the primary driven gear on the clutch basket do not line up ?
the drive gear is in the correct place but the driven gear looks like it is out about one eighth  of an inch ? I am sure I assembled it correctly, has anybody 
ever seen this ?
any help would be appreciated.
