69 dt1 250 the clutch shaft seems to have play - is this normal

when the basket is on it seem to still move but seems like i could put in an extra washer in to get play out. having trouble with clutch working right.

The clutch basket will take that slack out. Don't forget you want some clearance for heat, etc. If it shifts ok, no factor. 

edit:   Just noticed you said loose when nut on basket too.   All the spacers there?

If you have the thrust washers and spacers installed correctly with the inner basket nut tight, the SHAFT (and inner basket) will have zero end play.  

So what you're doing in the video is kind of pointless, unless the SHAFT still moves like that with the nut tight?
