Is it just the cover, or is the cut into the core as well?

Just the cover, but deep. Was just going to put heat shrink over the lead. I think over the years it has been shortened and it is a bit tight, but still works.

Many cases of the inexpensive new coils advertised for sale not working so keep that in mind if you try one and loose spark.  "New" doesn't always mean it works.

Some coils had wire glued or sealed in to coil.  DEET said he's replaced those but it's not easy.  You might try contacting him.

On some Yamaha coils the wire threads in to coil like it threads into spark plug cap.

NGK makes a plug wire splicer, a bit bulky but they work.

Wire is solid copper core.  A NAPA store or small engine shop might have some

Hi Deet, The coil in question is the correct colour and is stamped HPE-H2. Also I have the stator which is stamped FZA - 1BL and in need rewiring.First of all can you tell me if they are compatible, The reason I ask is the engine I believe to be an Rt2 number RT1 145878 and rolling chassis number RT1 03705 (1970) I think. If you are able to restore them for me I can send photos to you.I have tried to contact you on  This email address is being protected from spambots.
