Decompressor on an AT1e was created by Agop

Hello all ...
I have an At1 e which has the cylinder changed to 175cc.
So at moment electric start is not powerful enough to crank the engine.
Just wondering if anyone has done or think it will work..... adding a decompressor in spare plug hole, so the electric start would work.?
Any suggestions.
Thanks.

Good question bud,  I also have a 175 conversion and it will crank over very fast without a spark plug installed. A decompressor might be just enough to make a difference

Those "chainsaw" self-closing button types work great on Harley's so should work great on an AT!

Just kick start it. Advance mechanism will be on retard at kick speed so won't kick back. Electric might start it when hot with a top output cold cranking battery with a 175 top end. I didn't know that main shaft was hollow--week point & looks like evidence of an oil hole in the break so a double week spot. Worried about mine now--175 top on an AT1 magneto model.

I'd inspect the kick gears carefully

Others have said it and I've experienced it twice, with two AT's with 175 top ends. Electric start can't make it happen engine cold. But these are so easy to kick over cold, it's not a worry. Engine warm however, you can impress your friends with the electric start because it works great. At least has for me, and others have reported this too.
