WTB - DT 400 Kick start boss was created by tgill

Apparently, many models use the same boss under different part numbers.
Thanks, in advance!

Great information.  583 parts prices are much better!  I really believe that if the kick starter is hitting the RS foot peg mounting bolt, the boss will snap eventually.  Mine did just that!  Thanks,

I've tried aftermarket (whole kick starter, boss and lever) and had it bend/break at the boss pretty quick.

Yamaha part is the way to go.

I was tempted but bought Yamaha.  I haven't installed the new/old kicker yet but really think it might have been new paint on the frame and peg mount that caused the nut to stick out and hit the kick arm.  We shall see.

Aftermarket part from Yamaha XS 650 works fine since years on my ´76 DT400.
Endures also strong kick-backs .
Bought the whole Arm but only used the boss in combination with the origin arm.
Cant find the link to the shop, anymore, sorry.

There are aftemarket ones that are not great.  I bought one here in the US years ago and boss failed quickly.  I vaguely remember it may have been painted black?  Too long ago and can't find the part number I bought.
