Bit of a random guess but i wonder if the spring & ball on the banjo fitting leading to the cylinder are semi blocked with rubbish & its forcing the oil out there at the gasket rather than easily pumping to the cylinder. That is unlikely & can't believe i said it.
That washer would be unlikely to leak unless the bolt is loose.

These old washers look pretty bad. Probably just weeping, and maybe over time enough to make a small puddle below. I didn't remove the ball bearing, but It seem to be pumping fine.

Find fiber if you can. The "new" copper washers don't seem to seal as well in my experience.

Thanks Mark, I did see some old posts here that folks said copper wasn't sealing well. I cleaned up the mating surface on the pump, and the banjo is clean too.

Oh, and that looks really clean... many times I've seen swarf and debris caught inside the spring.

I have reused the banjo gasket washers by scuffing them lightly across fine grit paper using my finger tip. Just enough to smooth out the imprint left behind from its original squish.

this is where Morley would say “don’t do as I do, unless you want to” or something like that.

Mark, I cleaned the fitting and spring with brake cleaner, but they weren't too bad. Schu, these seem shot to me, and soft. I'm gonna hit Ace hardware and see what they have.

I'm kind of surprised... the original banjo gaskets I usually see disintegrate with remnants stuck like glue to the pump, banjo, and bolt. No way they could be salvaged.

No fiber washers at Ace that will fit, but they have neoprene. I don't think neoprene would stand up to two cycle oil and heat ,or am I wrong?
