VM 24...  but that doesn't mean a whole lot as there are many, many variations.

If original carb should have tiny numbers stamped on choke boss or side of carb.  (your carb would have a "pull knob" choke)

Also, there is no reason you can't pressure (and then vacuum) test the engine...  Many posts on here about it and how to do it.  Not that hard or expensive and then you know it's sealed up.  Huge time, money, and engine saver in my experience...  first thing I do on a new to me two stroke if having issues.

Most people would rather "guess" or just replace parts and hope for the best it seems.  That's okay too.

There should be an article in Tech Library on the process if you don't want to search.

Did you look through the carb. Shouldn't see light under the closed slide.

Yes the carb slide is fully closed. And as shown on the picture it has a number on the side of the carb. But my carb has a inner diameter of 28mm in the engine side is that correct.

Regardless of if it's the right size or not it should still shut off. I thought Mark put those carb pics up here, its just that one was set to about idle slide height. But i guess was just pointing out numbers on the carbs. Don't worry, just me not reading right. I've got a 28 on my old 175, Chinese 28, which was not fully machined so only about 25 or so. Works good all the same.

I must have missed it if you posted picture of your carb.

28 can work.  Original was closer to 24...  but size is measured down by slide so outlet ID sometimes measures a little bigger...  like a VM24 might measure 25 or 26 ID at spigot.
