Replacement parts Question for a 69 L5t? was created by Noviastar

HI there.  Getting going on this restoration project.  Noticed the original petcock is rather beat up.  First Question is Do you all recommend getting just any ol one that fits on the threads on the tank?  There are a few out there on the ol internet.

Second.  I got Turn signal Relay on the way.  But wondering if there were Turn signals that any of you have used on these? I noticed up front and in the back the Holes I think they mount on if I had them.  But any recommendations would be great.

Third.  Has anyone swapped the ends of the wire harness out with more modern plug connections?  Stuff like in cars or say Computer Power supplies?  The wiring is a mess cut all over the place and with random ones her and there.

Oh lastly.  I was thinking of different Handle bar controlls.  One with a kill switch.  That and bar end mirrors on a set of drag bars I got for it.  Anyone have after market controlls they found work well with these old things?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Computer connections are not terribly weatherproof.  You can do anything you want.  Many of us use a terminal kit and crimping tool from Vintage Connections that is the same as original.  The original type hold up well.

Petcocks are sometimes total crap, sometimes fine.  I prefer to use Yamaha OEM.  Other later models used the same threaded bung so you should be able to find a Yamaha petcock at a reasonable price.

Hay.  SO!  Air filters.  Any advice on jury rigin one for one this old?  I was debating a K&N that fit in the intake.  But id need to jam a screw hole through it...  There are these oval ones Yamaha still has...  If they are the same length.  Maybe bent to fit?   Share any hack job air filter stories?
