My question is, are the fenders gloss or satin finish?

Mine look like a dull gloss, but the paint is almost 50 years old. 
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that attaches the handlebars to the seat

This has been discussed before . My recollection is that a matt clear coat was used ,
to take the gloss of the paint in those areas . My recollections only .
