Im restoring a 73 RT3 360 and just bought the entire seat kit from Dave over at KDI and i noticed it comes with a strap that goes on top. I dont have any of the hardware for this strap nor could i find any. I did some searching here on the site but the only strap i see is the one that goes under the seat for the 69 DT250. Im wondering if the RT3 ever had one that went over the top? I do have a 1969 DT250 frame with a 72/73 RT360 motor stuffed in her and that one does have the seat strap but im not sure if somebody added that or if it was factory? Heres a few pics to show you what im talking about.

 
 

The seat strap was fitted to JDM and Australasian market RT3's , but not on US market version .
I guess Dave was covering options there .

Had a feeling that was the case. Im surprised i cant find one on google images with a strap. Trying to find the hardware for it and still no luck, not sure if i wanna have the strap or not even if i do find the hardware.

The strap and hardware aren't listed as a separate part here in Australasia , so I think you're
unlikely to locate any hardware , except perhaps on an existing seat , somewhere .

Add to Swoop's list the mainland European models (UK didn't get the RT3). However, I'm pretty sure that these had a longer seat, so Dave's cover probably wouldn't fit these ones.

At the time, i struggled to get hardware for the seat strap on my HT1B. They're pretty much the same, square piece of metal with a hole in it. I made my own from .50 stainless and polished the daylights out of them. At the time i had access to an edging press so it was straight forward but you're better finding them if you can and restoring them . Bring on the Evaporust .

There is a seat on eBay with the strap. Probably European model. Good pictures with the strap mounting hardware.

Search for item # 194956032932. It is pricey.
