What year/model gas tanks fit a 1975 DT175B? was created by DT175DOUG

Can anyone tell me what other year / model gas tanks would fit my 1975 DT175B? I remember reading a post that stated that a 1976 model tank is different, so that's out .What about a 1975 , 100 or 125 tankor a 1974 , 100,125, or 175 tank?Mine has the twist on Yamaha gas cap, not a locking gas cap.Thanks for any help,Doug in NC

It's been discussed here before.  was said 74 will fit the frame, cap is different.

75 DT100 was theorized it might work.  Not that common a model so don't remember anyone that tried it.  There are some DT100 owners on here so maybe you could ask for pictures/details/measurements?  But not sure it's any easier to find a DT175 tank. 

I think I have a 75 175 tank that someone beat clearance dents in the front on...  they installed leading axle forks.

Thanks for the input Mark. I see some 1974 DT175 tanks on Ebay but they have the locking gas caps and no keys.
Dumb question:
Are the 1974/75 DT175 tanks with the locking caps virtually the same tank as the later 1975 tanks with twist on caps?
In other words, can a locking cap setup be removed from a tank in order to use a twist on cap?

You would need to cut out the flip cap parts and weld in the twist off bung...  so not really.
