Hi Adguy:
Any chance you have a different Napa number as went to 3 different stores and they could not come up with a 4020. I ended up getting a Norman Lamps 4020 from Amazon for $26.00.
Thanks,
John

Thanks-
The original is  super hard to find...
Looks like it'll have to be held in place/adjusted by other means...

You're not getting a whole lot of responses because this topic has been discussed here probably more than any other...  there are hundreds and hundreds of posts on headlight replacement.  Search is your friend.

Thanks again for the replies-
I ordered a Napa 4020.
Size wise there are many 5 3/4" bulbs out there.
The issue is the original has several integral mounting/adjustment tabs that the replacements don't...

This is the part with the replacement bulb facility that was fitted originally (see photo).

An early CT1 headlight would likely work as well.

If you manage to find one, then you will need a different bulb holder and pigtail connector as well.

Later models got rid of the (useless!!) brackets and adjustment hardware and just clipped the bulb into the chrome ring.

You can get the clips from Yamaha or someplace like MikesXS. www.mikesxs.net/yamaha-xs650-headlamp-w-clips-pk-5.html

If you are doing a "concours" restoration then you can spend a small fortune on a NOS replacement.

My preference is to use a very common H4 reflector and install the appropriate 6v H4 bulb...  costs a little more than a sealed beam initially but subsequent bulb replacement is easy/cheap...  as is conversion to 12v.
