Capt. Dave photos of No. 51 please was created by type one
Hi Capt. Dave
would you be kind enough to share a comprehensive set of photos of your very early and complete’68 including the gas tank stay please.
it would be an excellent reference point for early bikes and confirm a few questions I and others may have … plus I’ve only seen some distant photos so it would be great to see the bike up close !!
cheers

Here you go. The exhaust stinger isn`t correct and it needs the blue hi beam indicator.

Thanks Capn! As a newbie to the 68 DT1 I'm soaking it all in. Those two things you mentioned are the only two things I saw out of place. I'll be watching to see what the experts may comment on. I'm restoring DT1-12xxx and have an early version with no vin. Based on the parts on it and what I've read on the back of the 71 service manual noting differences based on vin...I'm thinking my no VIN bike would be between 2800 and 3300.
One of mine has the fork caps with the Schrader valves too like are noted in my first edition June 68 riders manual. Should yours have those? Can't make out in the pics.
I'd like to find documents on the hollow vs solid front axle and something on the blue high beam. Seems to be a mix of blue and red out there. I'm painstakingly wanting to do an authentic resto on my 12xxx bike. I have the same kick lever as yours and my other 68 has the beefier kicker like the 69. Not sure on when change in kickers happened.
Thanks again...more pics of the left side? Your buddy there was posing too!

Yep the early tank (red) above is 6mm and gray tank is 8mm.
Red tank on my no vin bike (2800 to 3300?) and gray from my 12xxx bike.
Good dog!

I'd bet your Gibson's can "fetch" a good dollar!
I had a small collection, but my relentless tinnitus has gotten to the point where my pitch perception is so far off I can't even tune them anymore.
So I have passed a few to family members who play and will appreciate them.
I am saving my 70s SG and Ovation for my grandson.
