Whatcha expect for $400 was created by adguy2112

During the process of restoring a CT1 for my daughter I've fallen for the 175. I really wanted a CT3 based on some I've seen here and jumped on one yesterday. Whoa Nellie she's rough but it will be fun (and expensive). I think I removed a dozen zip ties and lots of flat head screws that had no business on a Yamaha. Still getting into it but definitely will need a new kick idle gear, foot peg rubber, brake and clutch handles, air cleaner to carb tube, Key switch, Speedo, headlight bucket and bezel, OEM throttle and cables, heat shield, exhaust tip rear trails tire, rear shocks, a bunch of grommets, all the other cables and whatever else I'll find later.A few questions: I'll definitely need to start with the kick idle gear which is missing several teeth. Does anyone know why partzilla shows part numbers at the top with a zero reference to the image display. I assume it's to show that part was superceded with the part that does correspond to the number listed in the display. I've located the part on ebay that corresponds to the zero numbered reference and wondering if I should stay away from it. The other question is on the heat shield, They seem to be going through a period where less are available. Anyone know to what degree they aren't interchangeable. part number wise, I can see I'm fine with 125/175 but wondering about the 100/250/360. I can change out the badge but maybe the bolt holes won't lineup or the lengths are dramatically different.

Clearly some issue with attaching photos today. I will edit later to see if it will work.

Wow!
I hope I can find one just as rough for $400.

Nice find!

the “zeros” at the top of the partzilla lists are for multiple options and models, use care or you will end up with wrong stuff.

Thanks for the info! I went with the part number that was numbered further down. In other words, not the “zero” reference part. It looks different than The broken one I have. The version I bought doesn’t  have a concave groove Like what is currently on the bike. Hoping it will fit.

Well, you have a nice front fender so everything else is a bonus. I just bought a CT3 that is in a little better shape (not a lot better) but I paid $1200. Looks like a good deal in this market.
Cheers, Mike

Received the new kick idle gear today to repair the one I have needing dental work.  Slightly different style than the original but same teeth and thickness. Unfortunately the thrust bearing behind it was in bits. There is visible scarring  to the case but perhaps it’s passable. I ordered a new bearing so we’ll see.
