I picked this up at Barber and looking on ebay the jt1 mufflers seem to have no text on the guard while the gt 80s all have 80 on them. Whats it fit?

In 1976, Yamaha dropped the displacement badging on the exhaust and oil tanks and replaced it with plain "Enduro".

Looks like they did the same on the 80's too...  I think 76 and maybe 77 GT80's were like that and then they got away from the chrome heat shield in 78 or 79...

This is mostly a guess so hopefully a little bike expert will come along and correct me if I'm wrong.

Your always spot on Mark. Looking at the mini enduros and pulling up ancient memories I was thinking Gt 80. Since the jts were 71/72 their shields were like the other piston ports-no cc till 73.

It doesn't fit a JT because they exit on the left side, and your picture shows a right side exhaust.

I think it's a pretty rare badge...  maybe only one or two years of the GT80 used it.

Oh, and BTW, that Mecum GT80 doesn't have 76 oil tank decals...  Partzilla shows 76 just saying "ENDURO" on the oil tank.

The 75 GT80b model had the "Enduro 80" oil tank decal.
