Adjusting height on Mikuni VM24-512 was created by ksours
The Mikuni specs say the float height should be at 21mm. Measuring from the gasket surface , is it the top of the float sitting natural in the upside down position? I have very little gas in the bowl when I pulled it and the measurement is 28mm. I want to use the clear tube but would like to adjust first to reduce the trial and error. See pic.

Are you sure the floats aren't on upside down or something? That looks way off.
Rule of thumb on Mikuni is float arms should be parallel to float bowl gasket surface.

Funny you should mention that. I wanted to button it up last night and noticed tension when setting on the bowl. This morning I found the floats upside down and figured I threw the tang out of measurement at that time. I did not hear from anybody so I adjusted to 21MM on both sides and the bike runs very well. The 30 pilot jet you recommended is in and I went back to standard Mikuni adjustments ( 1 turn out on the air/mix and adjusted the idle to @1700 with the needle adjustment back to 4). It has a small sputter at around 50-60%. I'm going to put a couple of miles on it and check the plug.

Just looked at the pic & thought can't be upside-down because of where the arm comes off the float but sure looks very bent up or something.
