Where to start was created by Fjordman95

I am sure this is a common story, I bought a 1974 Yamaha DT 250 that the owners were moving along. It hadn't been started for a couple years and the tank was a mess.

Cleaned out and went through the carb, but when I got around to the ignition system there is no spark and I am wondering if there is a sticky or flow chart to start the process.

I don't have much experience with 2 strokes motor cycle wise, mostly snow mobile stuff.

I have a downloaded copy of the service manual, just looking for a good starting point.

Ill post some pics tomorrow,

Thanks,
Warren

Apart from checking that all of the parts are present and correct, the first job would probably be to clean the faces of the points.

Also make sure that all wires are connected as they should be and that the kill switch alongside the throttle grip is in the correct position.
