CT1/2/3 engine and frame differences was created by mwlockwood

Hey all,

I have my CT1 and I have picked up a CT3 frame as I have the parts to make a roller and thinking about sourcing an engine for the CT3 frame. I will try and get a CT3 engine but what else would fit in there? What have others wedged in these frames?

The lower cradle was removed for a previous engine swap so ensuring OEM period concourse correctness isn’t an issue! Just a fun bike.

any info appreciated!

CT1 through CT3 have identical engine mounts as does model AT1 through USA 1976 DT125.

Close matches are 74-81 DT175 or 78-81 DT125.   77-79 IT175 fits in this category as well as YZ125 up to maybe 78 or 79.  Rear lower mount is different.

Check forum for thread on using a Yamaha Blaster engine...  that's probably what I'd consider.

Awesome thank you Mark. CT2/3 don't use the mounting 'plates' though it seems?

I also believe having the two side by side the CT1 frame is prettier naked!
