Manifold intake was created by Burrage

All what is the purpose of the manifold intake on a 1973 DT3 250? We have fitted the carb without it and have the engine running, just wondering what difference fitting the intake flange will make?

If you're talking about the insulator joint it's there to help insulate your carb from the heat of the cylinder.
