1980 Yamaha DT125 carburetor help needed was created by dtlobbster

Hi all, I have a 1980 DT125G that I finally got up and running after replacing oil seals behind the stator. But just now I ran into a problem with the carb. The air screw adjustment on my carb is/was completely stripped out and the engine was bogging down (because of a lack of enough air). I tried my best to drill it out with little to no damage and while I got it out, the threads on the and screw are pretty much ruined. If anyone has any aftermarket carburetors that are actually worth buying for this era(oil injected) or where I could find an oem carburetor? I’m having no luck. Or at the very least does anyone know where I could find a replacement air screw?

Or locate it either on this diagram or in this parts list?

Maybe it's me, but I'm not seeing it.

1980 had an "tamper proof" carb due to EPA.  So original screw was capped and wasn't supposed to be adjusted after it left the factory.

I was remembering that there was a year in which that happened, the EPA intervention, but I couldn't remember which year. That cap is pictured there.
Thanks MarkT!

Yeah that’s the site I tried checking but no avail. It looks like these other guys were right about it being factory locked. Do you know if I 79’ carburetor would work on the 80’? I may have found one I can get off an old parts bike

In 1980 the 125 got a smaller carb and the air filter was redesigned to be much less restrictive than in 78-79.

So to answer your question, the 79 should fit just fine but could need a little tuning?  Probably not though.  79 might also have the capped air screw but you can remove the cap and adjust.  I've had '79's and one had the cap cap and the other didn't.
