DT1 plastic rear fender paint removal

DT1 plastic rear fender paint removal was created by type one

Evening 

so Ive started work on the  recent '68 Mx conversion I bought ...

the rear fender is a really nice plastic fender in the same shape as the stock metal one or pretty
close in shape ... it needs a few repairs bit
most importantly I want to paint it silver ... it's currently yellow ... 
any tips on paint removal and or preparation??

I would try running it under hot tap water, should soften the paint so it can be scraped or peeled off. That's how I removed paint from my 68 tank. I guess you'd have to be careful it's not too hot to deform the plastic.

Brake fluid attacks many paints.  May or may not hurt the plastic.  I used brake fluid to remove paint from a plastic fender and it worked really good...  paint blistered up and wiped off almost immediately.  Plastic was fine.

hi all
this is a very helpful thread as i am restoring my new dt1e, which has a dt1mx front fender
once i strip paint how should I prep surface for painting?  what kind of paint is recommended for plastic?

Once plastic is clean you can use this and use pretty much any paint you want.
Klean Strip also make an aerosol spray "Aircraft paint striper" that works good for striping paint from plastic.
