Front fork question was created by Timcat

Hello, I have 1972 RT 360 and am wondering if any knows or has seen these air valves on top of front forks. I believe these shocks usually come oil only and not air and oil. Tim

Unable to see the attachment, your bike did not come with air caps, someone added it, was a popular after market doo-dad , some had a connecting hose and even some with a pressure gauge, personally I'm not a fan, if it's sprung too soft replace the springs with what you need, and set the oil level height to fine tune, I used them on my 79 YZ ( it came that way) I put 5 pounds or so in them, I always thought they cause premature seal failure, now I just use them to let pressure off as it builds up

I tried air only & no springs in my MX250B 1975 & made them too harsh. It was the rage for a while but of course the next year YZ250C came with air only but a high pressure chamber plus a low pressure chamber. Well, low pressure was the fork tube @ 35psi & high pressure was a bloody ugly fat chamber on top. Funny thing is on my "76 i put springs in & did away with the new fangled setup & on my "75 trying air only with 35psi air & no spring i soon changed back to springs. Hope that makes sense lol, i talk in riddles sometimes.
