I already gave my answer about capacitor in post #5 above. :)

I've used automotive condensers with lower and higher ratings from brands like Bosch, Motorcraft, and Mallory in the past and never noticed a problem. Many of the new replacement condensers suck. They just don't last like the originals.

0.3 ohms could be the problem. I just looked it up in the wire tables and 18 gauge wire has a resistance of only about 0.006 ohms per foot... so your resistance is equivalent to connecting stator to coil with about 50 feet of 18 gauge wire. Seems high to me.

I just measured resistance from stator to coil bracket on a bike I'm working on and it's right at 0.001 ohm and stator isn't tightened completely.

Years ago someone on here had a misfire only with lights on. Grounding was mentioned early on. I believe he replaced the entire ignition with no improvement. Eventually found the engine was not grounded to the frame as well as he thought it was and problem went away.

Sorry, I should have explained better. My meter reads 0.3 ohms with the leads shorted on the default 40Mohms scale. Checking on a lower scale it is .000 ohms. I also ordered another condenser from 2fastmoto, who said they only use Japanese suppliers (quoted Nippon denso, Daichi etc.) but the one I got had no markings so not likely from a "name brand" supplier. They said theirs meet all OEM specs per the part number, but couldn't tell me the capacitance it was supposed to be. I measured it to be 0.251microfarad, not 0.3. I just put in the first one received and will test shortly.
