DT2 MX head vs stock head was created by AirborneSilva

Other than the two plug holes is there any difference/advantage to putting an MX head on my DT2?  Thanks guys, hope all are having a great weekend!  Tony

Would look fast with tall fining on DT2MX head but "i think" it would squeeze the compression too hard for petrol. Would accentuate any piston noise if you have any. & would need to pull the timing back & in your case maybe less than 12 thou gap to alter it. Had mine on methanol--Alky 'alcohol' racing with GYT kit head on a std DT2 cylinder for motocross & it was fast enough too & revved to the moon. Ok i'll bore you with the video somewhere on the net if i can find it.

Thanks for the reply Morely, didn't think of the fin height but did wonder if the compression would be too high, we do have 93 octane here in Florida but I currently run the 90 pure gas (no alcohol added).  I don't really have any piston noise with a new top end/forged piston.  I do have some methanol, I use it in my Challenger - spray it with a mixture of water/meth - but certainly wouldn't even entertain the idea of using it in my bikes, not brave enough or smart enough

Drag it to 5.10 & my Alky burning DT2 comes into view then i drop it haha & pick it up arms crossed. Man that was a fun time of life. Sorry to bore you, i've had it up here before i know. Bike was 'what it was' as had sold my GYT kitted DT1 & waiting for the DT2MX proper race bike--like the head you're talking about OP. DT2 was just a 'fill in' in the mean time.

I'd better add that the Alky was called Shell Racing Spirit Special. Purple in color. Had to flush the motor with an oily petrol mix after the event or it's start to rust the internals, bearings & bigend etc if left for a month between start ups. Gave the performance though. Was a hangover from my BSA days when everything ran on Alky. High comp, bigger bang--& bigger blowups too in the BSA days, conrod hanging out haha. Even bent the front frame tubes forward at the engine mount.
