Quick and easy question for you guys. I just got my keys for the ignition and I’m wondering if you need a battery installed before you can kick it over and check for a spark.

I still have to split the cases and clean up the rusted crank.. Just trying to think ahead..

If you haven't done so already, clean the faces of the points, even if they're new.

yeah, i plan on cleaning the points.

I suspect that if i turn on the ignition and try to kick start it that id get a spark (without a battery).

It won't need a battery for ignition , but if you turn the lights on without a working battery ,
you'll very likely blow the bulbs .
