CT3-primary drive seal plate was created by ksours

Reassembly and there is a plate missing that i found on a youtube video. It is on the right crank cover just below the tach gear and primary drive gear. It fits just under the primary drive gear on top of the seal.  I do not have this plate and can not find it on my parts diagrams. I believe it assures the seal from moving outwards. Does anybody have a part number for this plate? How necessary is it?

It holds the seal in...  pretty well anyway.  Early CT models didn't have it but it came on the later ones and Yamaha had a "retrofit" for the ones that didn't come with it...  CT3 should have had it from the factory if memory is correct.

See if you can find it in this diagram  www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcy...3/crankcase-cylinder

Once again good job mark. I found it on ebay and they show 2 different versions. I found the right one with your part number. I don't want to keep replacing the seal so this was very necessary. Thanks again

The use of the term "Hint" is pretty nice actually, I would be more prone to "A Slap on the back of the head".Hahaha

I am glad you missed your coffee. I pulled the magneto and there was not one on that side either. Dumb luck for me I guess. Thanks a bunch guys.

You don't need one on the ignition side!

Stator plate does the job except on the early models.

Here's the bulletin...  It could be the CT3 didn't come with it.  I think the ignition side one was always dealer installed?  Not sure.
