recomendations for descent case splitter was created by AirborneSilva
Hi guys, well after spending almost $1K on getting new seals/bearings in my CT2 an ugly issue popped up that I had feared would, somehow the previous owner screwed this thing up so bad that the kick starter wont fully disengage, not the shops fault. So I have bought some used case halves off e-bay and instead of spending way too much money again I have decided I want to give this a shot but need the tool to split the case. Thanks for any suggestions...

The right side case will slide away off the crank & everything else will pretty much fall out. But ok you still need a way of getting the crank out of the left side as is tight, or should be tight. I guess ebay is the place to look but someone will have a link to one for sure.

RockyMountainATV.com. Used this many times, twice recently on a CT1, a real quality tool. The crank puller has another piece I don't see in their current pkg, you may need the adapter pkg for the puller too. Not sure, but for $9.99 why not. Fairly sure the top 2 will do it.
If you want Yamabond 4, they have that too and if you are really obsessed, get a bolt kit, about $32 on ebay.

A common two-bolt puller can be used to split the cases. Auto parts stores often "rent" them for free (i.e. steering wheel puller). Pulling the crank back into the case properly is more of a challenge IMHO.
I have the tools already but if I didn't, I'd contact DEET. He used to make a comprehensive set of tools that had all the adapters to properly reassemble any of these old enduros.

Thank you all for the comments, links and suggestions. I swear this bike is cursed! I bought it from the dudes father because he had died of alcoholism so I'm sure the work he had done on the bike and the damage it/he caused is biting me in the butt!

I'll second or third the Tusk, for the affordable cost it gets the job done well with no issues.

I bought the DEET setup and it worked fine for rebuilding the DT1. I have an old Yamaha 2 arm puller from when I worked in the trade.
Don't forget that heat is a great assistant here. Warming the bearing inner race before attempting installation can really help ease the crankshaft into place.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I actually chickened out after talking to the shop that installed the bearings, seals and put it together. Before anyone says anything, the issue I'm having is NOT the shops fault. Anyway, he gave me a price I couldn't refuse to take it back apart, put the new (used right side case on along with bearings and what not. The price wasn't much more than the cost of tools I would need. Someday I will man up and do this myself but the issues I'm having with it I wanted to Pro to deal with it. Thanks again to all!
