DT360 throttle cable was created by jsmith6752

Been reading some info on throttle cables for a 1974 DT360.What I have read seems confusing. Does anyone know where I can purchase the correct cable? thanks

I believe that is the correct number for the entire throttle cable. There are some reproductions floating around that "fit" and do work but their not quite up to factory spec. I dont think any include the metal tube that goes on top of the carb cap. I bought mine from HVC cycle and i had to fab my own tube for the cap.
The upper cable is longer than the factory one and so is the oil injection cable. Despite that it does work, i ride mine all the time but i dont use oil injection because of the cable lengths differences. Long story there which i dont feel like writing a novel about.

I have been keeping an eye out for a NOS complete throttle cable for Dave over at KDI. Its the last thing he needs before he can begin having the entire cable set for years 74-76 DT250,360 and 400 made. I believe all 3 years/models use the same cables but dont quote me.

Another possibility is bike buzzard on ebay. He sells the throttle cable, twist tube and carb cap as a whole. There is no oil injection cable just one long cable straight from the twist to the carb. Youd have to search his store to see if he has one available for your year/model.  As much as we all like to keep things factory sometimes you got to do what you got to do in order to make it run and go.

Look on CMSNL for correct part numbers and which models used them.

The tube for the carb cap was never part of the throttle cable on that model as far as I know.

HVC Cycle has the "closest fit" for a reproduction I know of.

New Yamaha cable sometimes show up for $$$.

If you have the old cable, shops like Terry Cable and maybe Motion Pro used to rebuild yours...  they need to use a couple of the original fittings.

I believe you are correct Mark about the tube not being apart of the cable. I just looked at my original cables in a box and the tube is gone. Mine was missing when i got the bike and im pretty sure the issue with those is there is an E clip that holds them on inside the cap and that end of the tube tends to break off.
Not sure what Yamaha was thinking there. I still would recommend the HVC cycle cable set, maybe you can use just the lower cable going from the splitter to the carb with your originals.

Enduro Nut, I've never seen the Mikuni carb elbow break at the e-clip...  that's not a Yamaha design and was used on a lot of Mikuni carbs.  But I suppose it's possible to break one.

It's just really easy to pop off the e-clip to remove the cable from the carb and most people don't realize the elbow is not a part of the cable...  then sometimes the elbow gets lost.  The most common story is the old cable got thrown away with the elbow still attached.

I lost an elbow once...  popped the clip off to remove cable from carb top, I knew elbow was not part of cable so took it off cable...  put it in a box or bag or something and then a couple years later couldn't find it.  Yamaha didn't have them but I got one from a Mikuni parts place.
