CT3 Petcock - can it be saved was created by Jogar
Hey everybody,
I’ve got a CT3 petcock that the filter has ripped on, but I see that it pops right off. Is there a place one can get a repo for that little inside filter ? I would post a pic, but I’m not at home for a couple days ,
thanks!

I have not seen one. I have a bunch of enduros and MXs and almost none of them have the filter. I have inline filters on all of my bikes.

This is what I have been doing with the petcocks on my bikes.
I bought some petcock gauze off fleabay and got my mate to solder a length over the top of the "main tank" tube (the gauze holds its shape very well when bent).
The original petcocks on my DT3 and RT2 didn't have any filter present for "reserve" (and, in fact, showed no sign of ever having had one fitted), so we made new ones from the gauze.

The factory screens will pop up on ebay occasionally, The last one I saw sold for $60 so that is not a great option. One could possibly be made from a brass screen but it looks like Uncle Al has a pretty good idea.

You’re not talking about the rubber valve with three holes?
The obsolete screen that fits into the reserve hole? Yes.
that can be removed from a aftermarket $15.00 petcock. The tall brass tube never had a screen. So, why not use an inline?

I was referring to #15 in the diagram. Part #214-24515-00. I have been fortunate that all the petcocks on my bikes have been unmolested and this part has been intact. They have come up on ebay in the past but are way too expensive. Would probably be easy to reproduce but an inline filter is probably better even though I can't stand the way they look.

I like to see the in-line filter… just one less thing to have to dis-mantle to verify you have some clean fuel.

The filter in the petcock bowl you show in the parts does a good job if it fits tight over the center hole. Easy to take the bowl off & empty out rubbish. But i've never had to buy one & can't find any by searching.

Do these just rot away?!
This image is hidden for guests.
I'm in the process of cleaning the petcocks on my own bikes and would report as follows:-
DT3 - just what looks like a brass washer remaining (presumably the rim of the filter net).
RT2 - no trace of any filter net ever having been present.
