Yamalube Oil for DT1C was created by EnduroDog

Hello All,  I am hoping that someone will give me recommendations for oil for the Yamalube system on my recently restored 1970 DT1C.  Thanks!

Like HT1KD said Yamalube 2S is great and what i use too but any 2 stroke oil that can be used in a oil injection system will work fine. there are many on the market. It will be marked on the bottle or in the description of the oil.

Find a brand name oil company, at a store near you. Do some research on the internet to be sure what you are going to use, does work fine.
Yamaha dealership is a ways away from me, so I opted for a name brand at O’really’s

Thanks for your help!  Fortunately I was able to pick up some Yamalube 2S yesterday at a dealership.  It says it is guaranteed smokeless!

I usually also like the Yamalube 2S but as you noted the new formulas are smokeless, I still have plenty of the old stuff so I haven’t used the new “smokeless” formula so I am not familiar exactly how “smokeless” it is but me personally I like the seeing and smelling the smoke as the smoke lets me know all is working with the oil pump “maybe why I’m missing a few brain cells and keep buying more and more bikes haha”

Lizeek,  thanks for the feedback.  That is a good idea to use the sight and smell of oil in the exhaust to help check whether the oil pump is working!  I will check out the new oil to see if it is truly smokeless-kinda hoping it isn’t!

2S is not completely smokeless. You can see it especially when the bike is cold.

Here is my 69 DT1 cold start with Yamalube 2S in it. You can see the smoke.

Nice bike!

Not smokeless for me either…not by a long shot!
