Which carbs were painted black? was created by Gr8uncleal
Just sorting out my eight various carbs and was wondering which would have been painted black originally and which not. Mine are as follows:-
CT1 x 2 - both unpainted
CT2/3 - unpainted
RT1 - unpainted (also, there is a new one on fleabay which is unpainted)
RT2 - painted black
DT3 - painted black
DT360A x2 - both painted black
More of an "inquisitive mind" question, rather than any inclination to paint any that are wrong!
When I stripped them down, only one had the correct jets and needle!

Thanks.

Alan, I think the CT2 and CT3 were originally black.
I didn't like it on my CT3 so mine is now unpainted thanks to my bead blaster

Not sure if my CT3's carb is original, but it was black when it came into my possession,

I think the general rule of thumb is the painted carbs started in the 1972 model year?

Hmmmm, I've worked on a few original AT-CT 2&3s and haven't seen a black carb. The mx series did. Maybe there were different runs of the carbs. Some painted, some raw. Dunno.
Question authority, think for yourself!

I know the 73 enduros had painted carbs , and thought 72's were unpainted .
A look over the relative brochures tends to suggest the 72's were painted also .
