Is Bill Bune shut down? Where to get crankshaft rebuilt?

Needing to have the crankshaft assembly for the '68 project rebuilt, I have been trying this afternoon to contact Bill Bune in Minnesota. I had them do both the crank for my 360A as well as some headwork for an XS650. This afternoon I tried both numbers, neither one of which would ring through on the landline. When I tried using a cell phone, I got a different response, that being a recording saying the number had been disconnected.

So.., disappointed as I liked their work. Do any members know what has happened to them? Did Covid do them in?

Also, can anyone recommend an equivalent source for this kind of work? I kind of like the idea of a shop that specializes in that kind of engine work, vs. a plain-vanilla bike shop or even a machine shop.

I've used Crankworks in Arizona. From their name you can tell what they do! They do much more too...you can see at their website. Sorry I'm no good at attaching links from this tablet :(

They are doing a bore job for me now. E mail Josh from the web site. He is good at returning messages. I am guessing they closed for the holiday week as he e mailed me yesterday.

Jeez, I hope not. Bune's shop does good work and is nice to deal with.

Their voice mail just worked for me. New message too saying they will reopen after the holiday.

I will try again. Encouraging to hear you got a response. Josh was the man I have dealt with before. I will try emailing them. My antenna came up when I got the recording that the number had been disconnected. Not exactly the kind of thing one does when going on vacation/holiday.

I did go to the crankworks.com website. Pretty complete selection of services, including some I did not realize could be done. Looks like a good source. Thank you. :Buds

Well, that was dumb. I copied the phone # down on a piece of paper wrong, then transposed that wrong # into my cell phone. Mea culpa :Ugh

Josh did get right back to me via email, and I am straightened out. Crank with rod bits going to them today. Price increase- went from $60 to $75. Not bad really.

I spoke to Josh today as I paid the 85 dollars for the bore job on my CT1. If I heard correctly, he bought the shop from BB. It should be open for a long time.
